Starting his stardom with his big break on Angell/Casey/Lee's Wings(1990) in which Steven Weber played the role of Brian Michael Hackett, Steven Weber eventually got another TV role on Aaron Sorkin's second NBC drama series, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip(2006). He now portrays the National Broadcasting System's Chairman of the Board, Jonathan "Jack" Rudolph.
Wesley Mendell(actor Judd Hirsch; Numb3rs), the executive producer of the sagging-in-the-ratings sketch comedy show called "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" had an on-air meltdown on LIVE television in front of a studio audience. At first, of course, the audience all thought it was just part of the show, but Mendell himself made darn sure to tell all of them that it's real and that he was in fact going to get fired immediately.
So, Jack Rudolph, Chairman of NBS, sees the tape of the episode and goes into Wes's office and fires him on the spot. The newly appointed NBS president, Jordan McDeere(Amanda Peet; The Whole Ten Yards), lucky for her just enters her administration during this crisis. She ends up hiring two friends of her's, Matt Albie and Danny Tripp(Bradley Whitford; The West Wing) to take over the show and hopefully bring the ratings back up to where they belong.
Also, have you seen Aaron Sorkin's box office hit, The American President? Michael Douglas and Annette Bening played the couple in that movie. The story of Matt Albie(Matthew Perry) and Harriet Hayes(Sarah Paulson) is kind of the opposite of the Shepherd/Wade story from American President.
And so the story continues...
