Monk has finally found someone whom is a great detective like himself. But this causes Monk to feel jealous and somewhat useless and he starts talking about accepting a teaching position at Fulton College. Meanwhile, Marty manages to identify one of the killers whom killed the jewelry store owner, Harold Gumbal, by only using the dog droppings and the dog and other things as clues. But how is Marty managing this when previously, as mentioned by Captain Stottlymeyer, he was never this good?
