It's Christmas in "Frisco" but all is not merry. A cop is dead after drinking a bottle of wine intended for Captain Stottlemeyer, and while all leads point to a man whom has a grudge against the Captain, Mr. Monk is not convinced. With Natalie's help, Monk does his own detective work, which soon causes him to do some caroling, fighting off crowds in the mall and(drumroll please) even goes undercover as a certain jolly, red-suited guy where he meets a little boy whom wants a rock polishing kit, which causes Monk to say to him that, "You're Santa's favorite!". Hopefully San Francisco's obsessive compulsive Columbo/Sherlock Holmes will solve the baffling crime in time to enjoy the holiday season.
